Beautiful weekend to work on a boat but a shame...end of season. what a nice k year it was...and 6 months to Spring! I had my boat out on Friday cruising the harbour and circling three harbour islands plus buzzing a large cruiseship. Guess it's time for winterization. Since the boat was brand new this year, I'll probably pay the $200 to have the dealer winterize it. I've received my Navigloo cover from Costco to protect the boat over our long damp winters. Get a custom cover. You will regret the generics. If you have any wildlife in your area, you'll regret covering the boat, period. There have been a couple of racoons in the area and some squirrels but mostly it's cats and dogs. That's what I liked about the Yukon...just throw a poly tarp over a wooden framework and the aluminum would be fine. the new boat has vinyl deck but also carpeting. |

In fact, it's going to be 83 degrees today, and I'm taking the afternoon off to go out on the lake. When we come back in this evening, I'll have to tie back up in a different slip so the entire dock we're on can be replaced in November. I'm not ready either. But...the leaves have started their merry trip to earth, and I've not even gotten a good start on the bumper crop of acorns we had this year. Don't ever buy a house with twelve big oak trees thereon. Too late... we have nothing but 90 foot tall oaks. Huge acorns. But our leaves are just now starting to get some color. Squirrels are going "nuts" right now. I bought one of these a couple years ago... worth every penny. http://www.shindaiwa-usa.com/Products/Blowers/EB802.aspx I bought one of these 13 years ago and I haven't had to do anything with leaves but run over them with it. http://www.toro.com/en-us/homeowner/mowers/walk-power- mowers/Pages/Series.aspx?sid=Super-Recycler |

Fortunately, I have a huge natural area in the back that I can blow the leaves into. My neighbors get ****ed when I throw our dog poop over the fence into their yard. I suppose they would have the same problem if I blew my leaves into their yard. |

I never winterize, just take it out for a run at least once a month until it warms in March. It gets regular doses of marine Sta-bil all year long. Wish I could do the same. But, the fear of heavy snow and/or freezing rain calls for the shrink wrap. Don't want to ruin another cover. |
