I've also got a 1/2 acre of Norway spruces that seem to be thinning out. I don't think that is a blight though, more likely old age. I think it was Spruce we lost here a couple decades back from something, shag bark hickory is very rare too I think I remember my dad saying something about something that hit them too. Oooops, just remembered it wasn't spruce although they did get hit with something. But it's Dutch Elm disease I remember my dad talking about. My mother lost two Chinese Elms to Dutch Elm disease. |

This doesn't count all of the work done on the other trees over the last 13 years. Fortunately, I have a huge natural area in the back that I can blow the leaves into. My neighbors get ****ed when I throw our dog poop over the fence into their yard. I suppose they would have the same problem if I blew my leaves into their yard. I really don't believe you throw the dog poop into their back yard! Luckily my wife takes the dogs for a walk every day and they eat and poop while on their walk. The problem is that my wife brings the poop home and tosses it into our trash can. It is not pleasant around the trash can in the summer time. I keep a little trash can out by the side of the garage with a plastic grocery bag therein. After walking the dogs, I throw the poop bag there, and then empty it into the big trash can on trash day. Works pretty well. Oh, I get my poop bags here now: http://www.uline.com/BL_5577/Newspaper-Bags Hell, 2000 for $51. Much cheaper than at the store! We get ours from the Washington Post. |

That *is* about the only reason to take the Post. But, our free six months ran out a while back, so I can't fall back on the Post bags. I had my boat out on Friday cruising the harbour and circling three harbour islands plus buzzing a large cruiseship. Guess it's time for winterization. Since the boat was brand new this year, I'll probably pay the $200 to have the dealer winterize it. I've received my Navigloo cover from Costco to protect the boat over our long damp winters. Get a custom cover. You will regret the generics. I do have the custom cover for the boating season but it's not recommended for heavy snowfall. This Navigloo shelter is an alternative to shrinkwrap. Get a proper cover. They might run close to $500 but that's a bargain to keep your boat in good shape. |
