Hmmm, I didn't know that about myself.

I'm a gun nut and I don't have plans on killing anybody. Never did.

However I DID bag a 4 point buck early this morning. a 12 ga. slug
right through the lungs at approx 60 yards. That's not a record shot
but it worked. It's [the deer] *already at the processors and the
venison will be donated to the local food pantry.

Congrats!

Thanks!

In cane you missed it, the deer will be processed and donated to the
local food pantry (to help feed those in need)

Remember that next time you eat Porky the Pig, or Elsie, and Elmer the
cow.

You remember Elsie and Elmer? Wow!

Yeah, and their twins, Beulah and Beauregard ...

That's not the way that I read the story. If my memory is correct,
the kids broke a window to get into the house, and the sound of
breaking glass woke him up. One of them started to come down the
stairs into the room where he was. Being concerned that they were
armed, he shot first, several times. Where he went wrong was
delivering a final shot at close range after the original threat no
longer existed. He lives in a so called "Castle" state where shooting
an intruder in your home is permitted if you feel threatened. You are
not permitted to fire "execution" shots however, and of course the
police should have been notified immediately. It's quite likely that
he suffers from some sort of mental impairment.

Then, there is the idiocy of trying to protect oneself with a .22
caliber gun. At issue, too, is firing multiple shots at a torso; a
torso of a young girl that likely posed no physical threat and was
apparently not armed. It is also troubling that the second intruder
descended the steps after hearing shots. That suggests a bizarre
mental state of that intruder.

It really muddies the issue when it takes multiple shots to subdue an
intruder.

Of course, you are correct about the fatal shots. The shooter went
from lawfully protecting his property to illegally assuming the
position of judge, jury, and executioner.

I thought the 22 was the weapon of choice for many professional hit persons

They are counting on a close range head shot, not really applicable to
home defense. In an emergency of course, you shoot what you have.

A Minnesota homeowner who shot two teenagers in the midst of an
apparent Thanksgiving Day break-in told authorities he feared they had
a weapon, but acknowledged firing "more shots than I needed to" and
appeared to take pride in "a good clean finishing shot" for one teen,
according to investigators.

The neighbors won't need to worry about locking their doors for awhile.
