For those gun owners who are not yet members, the NRA is having a special on membership.

They are claiming that the Democrats might try to sneak in a couple of amendments that they couldn't support, so therefore no vote. Can't they read? If they don't like the bill vote no. But at least do your jobs and vote. |

But at least do your jobs and vote. I wonder why, if the members themselves are overwhelmingly okay with background checks, that the bigwigs aren't. I'm going to guess that it's the politicians as usual getting in the way. ------------------------------------------- I am not a NRA member, so I don't know. I am sure the gun manufacturers have influence and so do some of the politicians that represent hard core "red" states. They can defend the right to high capacity magazines, "assault" type guns, etc., and although I personally don't see any need for them, I can at least understand their arguments. But a background check to purchase a gun? That should be a no-brainer. I The gun manufactures have more than influence. They run the show, which has changed for the NRA. It used to be much more member driven. |
