For those gun owners who are not yet members, the NRA is having a special on membership.
https://membership.nrahq.org/forms/s...ll&ek=y3des12n They also sell various other items, holsters, etc, etc, and even books for those who need to learn more about the use of weapons and, especially, safeties. Their concealed carry book would probably provide the answers to those 'special circumstances' you may encounter! Salmonbait -- Hope you're having a spectacular day! |

If there was ever an organization that had gone awry, this is it. Depending on the poll, between 70 and 90% of the American people want mandated background checks on all gun sales and yet the NRA vehemently opposes. I venture to guess that many members will cancel or allow their memberships to lapse after this round of stupid lunacy. |

Johnny always does seem to be swimming upstream against the current when the enlightened Americans are sailing downstream.

The nut case is Wayne LaPierre who happens to get all the media publicity. BTW ... he's not even the President of the NRA. He performs the roll of CEO and is the national spokesman and loud mouth. Problem is he doesn't present membership views ... only his own. As often said, "Don't judge a book by it's cover". I am beyond disgusted with the group of Republicans who refuse to even hold a simple vote and are threatening to filibuster any gun control bill. They are claiming that the Democrats might try to sneak in a couple of amendments that they couldn't support, so therefore no vote. Can't they read? If they don't like the bill vote no. But at least do your jobs and vote. |

But at least do your jobs and vote. I wonder why, if the members themselves are overwhelmingly okay with background checks, that the bigwigs aren't. I'm going to guess that it's the politicians as usual getting in the way. ------------------------------------------- I am not a NRA member, so I don't know. I am sure the gun manufacturers have influence and so do some of the politicians that represent hard core "red" states. They can defend the right to high capacity magazines, "assault" type guns, etc., and although I personally don't see any need for them, I can at least understand their arguments. But a background check to purchase a gun? That should be a no-brainer. I The gun manufactures have more than influence. They run the show, which has changed for the NRA. It used to be much more member driven. |
