Police Arrest Vendors At Gun Show
Wednesday, January 16, 2013
Anne Kramer

Baltimore County Police have charged with selling illegal ammunition
magazines at a recent gun show.

Police say 64-year-old Richard Summers of Waldorf and 57-year-old John
Heilmeier of Virginia are charged with firearms violations. Both were
released on their own recognizance.

Detectives working undercover at the Gun and Knife Show at the Timonium
Fairgrounds last weekend watched as two customers asked a vendor for an
ammunition magazine for a .223 caliber AR-15 rifle. Police say the
vendor sold the customers what appeared to be a 30-round magazine. The
magazine was then seized by police.

The detective went back to the vendor and asked to purchase a 30-round
magazine. According to police the vendor told the undercover detective
that he could not say "30-round magazine" because he was in Maryland but
assured the detective he could buy the magazine he was looking for.
Police say the detective bought two magazines which were labeled to hold
20 rounds but actually were 30-round magazines.

Police seized more than 100 additional illegal magazines from the vendor
stand.

High capacity magazines which hold more than 20 rounds can not be sold
or purchased in Maryland.

The men have a trial date in May.

Police say the customer who made the purchase is facing charges.

Just tripped across this one, from January. I've been to the Timonium
Gun Shows. You've got to be a complete moron to do what Summers and
Heilmeier did. It's well-known that undercover local and state police
wander the aisles and buildings at Maryland gun shows.

Sounds like Maryland has a huge gunshow loophole!

And, I'd say that's a 'special circumstance' worthy of chambering a round, right FOAD?

Dimwits. I'm glad they're facing charges in addition to the financial
loss. Makes the day a little better.
