Default sailing/scuba watch

I would like to find a watch that I can use for both sailing and diving. I
would like a compass and barometer. An altimeter is cool too, but I could
do without. A count-down timer would be great. As far as diving, all I
need is a bottom timer and durability. I don't do mixed-gas, I don't
(intentionally) do decompression dives.

Does anyone have suggestions on a good watch?

I love some of the Suunto watches, but there is nothing that fits the bill
as described above. The closest thing I can find is the Observer. It is
water resistant to 100m (330ft), has a compass, barometer and altimeter.
Unfortunately, the manual says "this is not a dive watch, the buttons should
not be used when diving."

Has anyone out there used the Observer or similar Suunto watches for diving?

None of their dive watches feature compasses or barometers

Thanks,

Brien

I think you really need two watches. Very few If any) non-diving watches are
sufficiently waterproof to play with the buttons underwater. A barometer is
probably impossible to combine with a depth meter, anyway.

I have a Citizen diving watch which is great. The best part is the alarm if
rising too fast, as well as a backup depth gauge.

For multi-function altimeter, barometer, etc. you might look at avocet.com.
I have their bike computer, and I was thinking of getting their watch.

Standard disclaimer: I have no connection with either company.

Don't give up hope! I have a watch (that I seem to have misplaced) which
contains all the functions you've listed. It is fully water proof. I use
it for diving, flying, sailing. However, it's not a dive computer. (I
suspect that is not what you are looking for). Since I last remember
using
it on our boat, that is probably where I've left it. I don't recall the
name of the manufacturer, but I seem to recall it costing around $300.00.
If I should make a trip to our boat soon and locate the watch, I'll post
another message of the name.

Default sailing/scuba watch

Ya, okay. Let me know if you find it. I haven't had any luck in finding
what I want.

I am still using the piece-of-crap watch I bought 11 years ago for $15. I
dive with it, I backpack with it, I run with it, I sail with it, I ski with
it. A few weeks ago I was sailing a Laser and banged it hard against the
hull. Pieces of the watch flew off. I was hoping it would die in the
process. But no such luck, it still works. I wish it would die or go
flying off my wrist to Davie Jones's Locker. While it was an amazing
bargain worth well more than $15, I am sick of it.

Thanks,

Brien

I found it. It is a Casio ProTrek. There is a marking on the back of
"2198" and "PRT-41". I actually found the watch "lost" in the house.
Hope
this helps.
