Drove a BIG F150 last night... hated it. I mean, it has everything I
need but I just don't like driving that huge monstrosity... Think I would get over it soon enough? |

Have your wife decide what you want to have for a family trailer first. Then you decide which 250 or 350 setup is the appropriate haul vehicle. How about a combo horse trailer/camper? |

I went from a Toyota 4Runner to a 4WD Silverado 2500HD. Pretty big jump. Get used to it pretty quickly - or hit a lot of stuff. John H. -- Hope you're having a great day! |

For now, the big trailer is still a pipe dream, at least a year or two down the road so I am thinking a vehicle for now, our trailer (loaded to the gills) is 3000 pounds bikes and all... The Dakota gets one mile less per gallon than the jeep and it has the 4.7 v8 so probably better mileage than the jeep with the trailer we run now is my thinking. I can suck 20-21 mpg out of the Jeep (rated 21 hwy) but as soon as I put a trailer on, right down to 15-16.. I am thinking the Dakota might do better than that with the trailer because of the V8.. |

I had to let the guy back it back in after the test drive cause I couldn't find the button for the mirror ![]() had the 5.4Triton engine, it did have some balls... But again, the smaller Dakota with the 4.7 seemed to actually have better acceleration... with no load. |

The mileage you get with any tow vehicle is affected in a big way by the air resistance of the front of the trailer when trucking down the highway. People often don't think about that. They aren't exactly designed to be aerodynamic. |

They aren't exactly designed to be aerodynamic. I am not sure how much it actually helps but my trailer is a "V" nose... With the Jeep it may be insignificant because of the height of the Jeep itself, especially since it has a big aftermarket roof rack too... The V might help some with a Pickup truck, but then again it may not at all... but you are correct, there is just a lot of drag with any trailer. |

First time for me with the Highlander and it's great for close in work..such as lining up ball to trailer coupler. |

First time for me with the Highlander and it's great for close in work..such as lining up ball to trailer coupler. Not in my price range... But I really don't need one, like I said before, I can back 'em up. I hook up my Jeep by myself all the time. I pull within a foot or two of the ball and jump out. Then I do a visual of how far I need to come like 11 inches, 14 inches whatever (point A to point B)... Then I get in the truck (leaving the door open) and look at the lowest corner of the door and the point it covers on the ground. Then look at a point exactly the distance behind that point as the distance from "point A to B" and focus on that point. Then I back my truck till the corner of the door is at that point, jump out and hook it up. I usually get within a half inch or so and the hitch drops right on for me... Of course when you jump out you note if you need to make a left or right correction too. |
