Is it just me or does it seem that there is a general lack of interest
or enthusiasm for the traditional July 4th celebrations this year?
I don't see much being talked about it and few events seem to be
advertised.

Maybe we're in another era similar to the Carter malaise days of the
1970s?

We're heading up to Milford-New Haven-Branford for the holiday for a
"movable beach party" and I presume illegal fireworks.

We are leaving for Bend oregon today and they are saying they will be
having an old time 4th celebration. I am looking forward to it. I
agree in most of the country the4th has just become another day for a
big sale

About 8 years ago we were in Telketna, AK the morning of the 4 th. Great
parade. About 4 vehicles towing trailers, one with a picnic table and
probably the local. Celebrities sitting at it. Color guard of vets, and an
Uncle Sam on stilts. Still one of the great parades I have seen.

The fourth found me at the Winston Lakes Golf Course - lost four balls, so did not have the best
score ever.

We ended up at the Rivers Edge course in Bend oregon but we did not
play. It was just the best place in town to catch the fireworks.
We sat next to the 4 some that won the tournament. They had a guy who
finished par, birdie, birdie, eagle. He had to look down to see the
fireworks, he was flying so high. The prize was 4 dozen Titlist Pro
V's

The Vietnam Veterans of America had a nice celebration earlier that
day. Old time 4th stuff with a little band and a BBQ, games for the
kids and such.

Sounds like a swell time. I had one putt for an eagle in Winston, but I missed the damn four footer.
Got a birdie.

Those Vietnam Vets are all great people!
