Unfortunately, the people's republic of Massachusetts has determined that none of Kimber's models are worthy of being determined to be MA compliant and it's therefore not possible for to buy one, new or used. Meanwhile, mini-me (Patrick Duval, Governor) has sponsored proposed legislation to further limit what may be owned or done in MA with regard to firearms. Included in the proposed changes to MA General Laws a 1. Limit of one firearm purchase per resident, per month. The purchase of more than one firearm within a 30 day period will be a felony, punishable by 2.5 years in prison for the buyer. 2. Previously grandfathered magazine clips that hold 11 or more rounds (standard Glock mag) must be legally disposed of within one year. Only 7 round magazines will be permitted. 3. Require gun license applicants to disclose their mental health histories. 4. Prohibit assault style firearms from being stored in homes. 5. Ban all high-capacity ammunition magazines, grandfathered or new, including .22lr. 6. Require gun owners to purchase liability insurance. 7. Tighten access to high-powered rounds of ammunition. (whatever *that* means). 8. Mandate buyers to undergo background checks before purchasing weapons at gun shows. 9. Require private gun sales to occur at the business of a licensed dealer so that the sale can be tracked electronically. 10. Several more that create more "crimes" for owning a prohibited gun, prohibited magazine, prohibited kind of ammo, and anything else they can dream up and get passed. Status: The bill was filed in February, 2013 and is currently making the rounds through the various required hearings before going to the capital for a vote. I would expect nothing less from the police state of Mass, after all, those little police depts outside Boston and Worcester, north of the TPK, are exactly the kind of "government" the framers were thinking of when they wrote the Second Amendment into the Constitution... |

They are the brainchild of Patrick Deval and a group of anti-gun advocates. |

Status: The bill was filed in February, 2013 and is currently making the rounds through the various required hearings before going to the capital for a vote. Sounds pretty good to me. --------------------- Of course. I can understand the reasoning of some, but not all of the proposed law changes. To my knowledge, MA would be the first state to require liability insurance to own a firearm, if approved. Doesn't make sense to me. How does having liability insurance make gun ownership safer to the general public? Basically, it says, "If I am negligent and you get hurt or killed, don't worry ... I am insured." It is just another way to tax and track your guns... Some of the others are just plain dumb and for effect only. Private sales are already required to be electronically filed here. You do it on-line and the state has a record of the transaction. Why do we now have to pay a fee to a licensed dealer to record a private sale? What set this off in my mind was doing some research for a friend of mine. His wife just purchased a pre-ban Clock. Came with two, eleven round magazines. Under the proposed legislation, pre-ban mags of 10 rounds or less will be allowed. Post ban magazines are currently limited to seven rounds. If approved, she is legally obligated to transfer her 11 round mags out of state or prove that they have been destroyed by some form of not yet disclosed procedure. |
