According to the local NBC news, the security forces protecting the installation where the shooting
took place are union security personnel - the best in existence, obviously. The union rep interviewed
said, basically, that there should have been more security guards.

Now we know what went wrong.

Did any of those security people lose their lives Johnny?
You'd think you would have a bit of respect for them.

Yes.

I have as much respect for him as for any of the victims. It's a shame his union training wasn't a
little more complete.

My comment stands.

Everyone in that building that wasn't a contractor or military was
union (AFGE).

I spent a lot of time in government buildings and the "guards" are
usually the oldest guys you see.
It is the classic
"Hey You! ... OK, Go ahead" as soon as you hold up anything.

I used to just flash my IBM badge although it had no particular
significance.

Granted there were very secure places around DC but they usually had
Marines at the door.
If it was a serious place like NSS or NSA, the .,45 was condition 1.
In NSA that guy virtually has his finger in your belt loop the whole
time you are there if you are not cleared for that particular room.

I found it strange that I could just walk around the Pentagon and CIA
but they had secure rooms and you needed a badge or an escort for each
one. Some Pentagon guys had so many badges around their neck it looked
like an Hawaiian lei.

At NSA I was always escorted. At the Pentagon, I had only one badge, but it had several color codes.
Another badge was needed for the Army Personnel Center, where I worked at one time. You're right,
many offices in the Pentagon require their own badge.
