Mitt Romney told a group of longtime supporters on Friday that he is
considering running for president, a major turnaround for a past GOP
nominee who just a year ago categorically ruled out a 2016 run.

He’s learned his lesson. This time, the family dog will ride in the car
and his wife will sit on the roof.

He's probably one of the better middle of the road candidates but he
lacks charisma and the popular touch. I think Jeb Bush probably has a
better chance than anyone else if he chooses to run, and it looks like
that decision has been made.

Considering the craziness of the possible GOP field, Bush certainly is
the best of that bunch. But I don't see the extremists who control much
of the party apparatus nominating him. Their complaint is that their
last two nominees were too moderate. They want blood, even if it costs
them the presidency.

We'll see. I'm at least moderately hopeful that the party has seen
enough of the crazies.

I think Jeb has established his distance from the ultra-right. He may
have picked the right time. The tea party has lost it's appeal to many.
