By then lots more of those with ACA insurance will have found out it is mostly worthless insurance. A supplement to the insurance industry. Young man across the street, grandson of my late fishing partner. Has ACA, Covered California insurance. $50 a month. $10,000 deductible. So for $600 a year he really only has a major medical policy. Could have gotten probably a better policy before ACA for not much difference in price. Basically unless you have to check in to the hospital, you have no insurance. This may reflect badly on all involved in passing this dog. It's only worthless if you're a deadbeat and going to stiff everybody. It was his choice getting only major medical. It's all there in black and white. You can get a good ACA policy. I helped a friend sign up when her company dropped her from coverage. Silver plan. $1500 out of pocket. $440 a month. Gov kicks in $105. So her maximum cost is per year is about $5500. You still have to pay to get decent coverage. Too much. And what he has at least pays pays for itself if he goes in for a yearly physical, which the ACA proscribes be at no cost to him. Not to speak of those who couldn't afford insurance because of "pre-existing conditions." Hillary should push for "Medicare for all." Help out the middle and lower income folks, which is the great majority of the population. If she's smart she'll advocate for that. Medicare and SS are the most popular gov programs. He got what he could afford. How are we going to subsidize all this "free" stuff? Medicare is a financial disaster. Bleeding debt like mad. We borrow 40 cents of every dollar the Federal Government spends. How long can we survive that? We can raise minimum wage and make everyone wealthy. At least that seems to be the rallying cry of government. How is that minimum wage going to be afforded by the employers? Other than raising prices. And now you have a minimum wage that is percentage wise the same or less than before regards the cost of living. Sure medicare and SS are popular. Lots of free money to those collecting. Not so popular to those paying. When the hell did SS become the national retirement plan? You had 40 years to,save some towards retirement. Either savings or a retirement plan or both. Between I and the my employers and self employed there is about $360,000 in my deposits. Between wife who collects on mine and me, we get about $24,000 a year. Starting when I was 62. Those years of payment also included a hefty amount of insurance component for the family. And I will still collect back all I paid in in about 15 years. We are in a downward spiral as a county as we are living way beyond our means. And yes a country can go bankrupt. Are you talking about SS? How does your wife collect on yours? She can collect on hers or mine. Since she was mostly a stay at home mom, her account was low. A spouse can either collect on her account or get 50% of your amount. Whichever is larger. http://www.ssa.gov/oact/quickcalc/spouse.html |
