Kids would come in and pool their money to get 30-50 cents worth of gas. Enough for the evening. 21-29 cents a gallon. We usually went for a dollars worth of Scot gas to fill up pop's car. He never paid any attention to the odometer but he did notice the gas gauge. My buddy's dad did monitor the odometer so we just disconnected it when we got to where we were supposed to be going and hooked it back up when we were about that far from home. |
