There's no arguing that Othello is my favorite Shakespeare tragedy.
Not that I'd find any argument here, in any case. This so happens to be my favorite passage, where Othello "does the right thing," and ends his own life. "And say besides, that in Aleppo once, Where a malignant and a turban'd Turk Beat a Venetian and traduc'd the state, I took by the throat the circumcised dog, And smote him thus." Though unintended, Gary Johnson did the same to his political life. Of course Othello was a valiant man, and Johnson a mere Libertarian putz. No Iago necessary. |
