![]() Needed to go to Oroville to order wife's Christmas present. 10' black walnut butcher block desk top to replace a couple desks in the home office. So towed the boat up. Spent the night at the Indian casino. Very nice room, 100 bucks with tax. Unfortunately, the clerk (I guess) ran the card for some extra charges. Visa fraud recognized the pattern. FedEx me a new card. Boating was great. Lake was flat calm until afternoon. Was brisk in the morning, and warm midday until the next storms clouds rolled in. For cast was snow level at 2500' to start, rising to 8000' at end of storm. Fished for bass with zero luck. Talked to the only other boat I saw, and he only caught one. Day before the fish were biting, according to the guys I talked to prefishing a tournament. Lake is still down at least 150', but still over 500' deep in some areas. Have to use the low water ramp, which has only 1 lane paved, instead of the normal 16 lanes. Worse part of the new card, is changing the auto pay linked to the card. |

Shame about the fish, good news about the card. Now you'll have to notify those automatic payment folks! |

Most of those western lakes seem to be drying up. I have said for a long time that we will run out of water long before we run out of oil. |

As Mark Twain said "whiskey is for drinking, water is for fighting.". We had a worse drought in the early 1970's. Difference is 24 million people vs. 38 million, and they have planted 100's of thousands of acres of almond orchards (30% million et urn I hear), lots and lots of grape vines. Both big water users, and when you had a scarcity of water in the old days of row crops, you just fallowed some fields. We are only 1 of 2 states with the old western water laws. Who ever was upstream and claimed the water could have all the water the creek would supply, screw the down stream user. In 1910, the mayor of Los Angeles tacked up hand lettered signs claiming all the water flowing in to the Owens valley. I do not think they even owned much land in the area. |

Should have read 30% return. |
