i've been told to use 20W50 in a 350 merc engine.
this seems heavy. should this be used, or should i go w/ a lighter weight. |

I'd go with 10/40 UNLESS it's an older motor with high hours. I've been
using 20/50 in my '68 Vette for 20 years now.... LOL. -W "mark s" wrote in message m... i've been told to use 20W50 in a 350 merc engine. this seems heavy. should this be used, or should i go w/ a lighter weight. |

I've got a 1987 350 Merc with 600 hours on it. I switched it to Amsoil
15-40 marine diesel and it seems to like it, but I hope I won't have a definitive answer for about 2400 hours. Capt. Jeff |

I've owned three Mercs over the past 7 yeas and they all called for Quicksilver
if available or straight 30 w detergent oil. I've been following those directions and have never had an oil related issue. Larry LI, NY |
