The Klipsch are alive!
I ended up replacing the crossovers with a new set of Bob Crites crossovers, and also a set of his titanium tweeter diaphragms. http://www.critesspeakers.com/
I did the install yesterday and had a chance to listen a bit last night. At normal levels they are detailed and expansive with a big soundfield. They have eaten up anything I've thrown at them so far... old school rock, jazz, modern country, etc. Crank up the volume and wow! They would fill a nightclub or small hall with plenty of sound for a party. I still need to play with the placement and tweak some settings, but with just $300 and some time invested, I've got a sound worth several times that. I'm a happy camper. :) |
