First "society" is not really similar at all and I suppose the answer
you are looking for is we have no real connection between mental
health services and any other regulatory agency.
A person can be a ticking time bomb, walking among us, well armed and
the doctors are prohibited by law to warn anyone.
Part of that is, nobody trusts doctors to give unbiased opinions. The
other part is, people with perceived mental problems will be severely
discriminated against and not just by gun dealers.

Really? There is plenty of violence in Western European countries. A
difference is that guns are not so readily available there, and the
deranged usually don't end up shooting up schools, churches, parking
lots, shopping malls. Sure, shootings happen there, but the occurrences
are rare.

And, of course, you are wrong about mental health professionals or
doctors being prohibited from providing warnings. And, of course, you
are also wrong about "nobody trusts doctors." This is just your
anti-formal-education bull**** rising up again.

Seems there are some problems even in the FBI. Why wasn't he

Maybe if he had tweeted about Putin, Trump and a Russian hooker, they
would have been paying more attention.

Maybe if you two paid attention, you might have known the FBI said there
wasn't any info connected to the blog post that would have allowed the
agency to trace the "professional school shooter."

He posted using his name. There was info.

Maybe it is time we start holding these big media companies
responsible for the activities of their users, whether it is people
making threats or russian troll farms. They are the ones with the IP
addresses of the poster and generally at least one real Email, the one
they use to verify the registration. If these comments were really on
You tube (Google) they know a whole lot about you. Why wasn't this
asked for and shared with the FBI?
I would not be surprised if Google has this guy's physical address,
browsing habits, purchases he has made and a profile of his friends.

The FBI says the blogger in question was a person living in Mississippi
who had no connection to the shooter, and spelled his first name
differently. The last name, Cruz, is a very common one among the Latino
communities.

Except he was registered in his real name., That should have been a
clue.

I think 'ol Harry is just giving the FBI a pass. After all, they gave
Hillary a pass, despite overwhelming evidence so they must be good.

BTW ... I put Harry back in my bozo bin. His lack of empathy for those
poor kids getting killed in Florida as demonstrated by immediately
turning it into a political, anti-Trump rant was the last straw for me.
He's an asshole. Period.

No, Europe uses cars and trucks running down people. Bombs. A bunch of

It wasn't the Mississippi blogger that made the comment, it was Cruz that made the comment on the blogger's youtube channel. The spelling of the first name was the same, according to the news reports that I'm reading. The FBI could have traced the commenter (Cruz, the shooter) based on his info from Google/Youtube.

Holy cow, you really don't have a clue about what you're whining about, do you?

We are the only ones massively drugging our kids?

Maybe it is because we are the only western country in which there is
such easy access to guns. Ever consider that?

Bingo!
Crazy gun culture and unstable youth = trouble.

You really underestimate the ingenuity of the American psychopath.
They use guns because they are lazy but there are very capable bomb
recipes on the internet and that is just scratching the surface of the
mayhem a determined person could bring to bear.
There are lots of things that can go bang if you put them in the right
container.
It is scary how easy it is to buy acetylene or chlorine gas.

There has been a paradigm shift in parenting in this country in
the last
few decades, foisted on us by child psychologists and the well
meaning
but misguided left. We can't urge our children to win, we have to
nurture them and give them participation trophies. No spanking,
just
talk to them like you're their friend. No keeping score, and no
red ink
on school papers. Can't make that child feel bad, why, they are
entitled to have it all!

Well guess what. Your job as a parent is NOT to be your child's
friend.
It is to teach them how to be a well-adjusted kid and adult. If
you
and society have shielded them all their lives, when the real world
smacks them in the face they may just snap.

Stealing Don's line, "I wholeheartedly agree with this post".

This kid was reported a year ago for posting he was going to be a
professional school shooter. Why was he not monitored? Guns maybe be
part of the problem, but they were not hard to get when I was a
kid. Lot
easier to legally acquire. Why not the same gun problems then?
Guns are
a tool of the warped people, not the reason. We need to find a cure
for
the reason, not take tools away.

I was just reading about the YouTube blogger who reported the post
made by Cruz back in 2017 about "going to be a professional school

An FBI spokesperson said the bureau was not able to identity the
person who left that post on the blog. Hard to question an individual
you cannot identify, eh?

He used his REAL name.
