I haven't. I guess my data is of no interest to anyone. :-) Current estimates are that 87 million users of Facebook have had their data compromised. Current articles say that "Every account holder is being sent one of two notices informing them whether their data was breached." I'd say that this is in reality future tense, not present or past. I've seen nothing like that yet. I haven't, either... |

I didn’t get that one but I did get a notification that someone I knew who played a game on FB had inadvertently allowed that game to gather info on other users, such as their names and locations, and that the app underpinning the game had been removed about a year ago. Whew! ![]() The games and quizzes are all collecting data and luring you with ads and click bait. Exactly. In fact, many of them are using the 'game' to develop psychological profiles of the players. I used to do the quizzes until I figured out they are all so easy it is clear they are just trying to make people feel good and take more quizzes they will ace. I keep my screen size set to 800/600 to the panel of ads and click bait that goes down the right side is out of view anyway. When I looked at the "apps" that was pretty much all I had. I never "shared" the result so that cuts down on some of the links they put together. I do more just scanning of the time line looking at pictures of the family than anything else. Yeah, I didn't see anything I was worried about. I did cut out a bunch of the apps. Don't think I ever used 'em anyway. The apps are usually games you play, quizzes etc. You also get an app if you log into a site like Forbes with Facebook. It is really a tracking cookie sort of thing, targeting you for ads. Deuce is quite the news hound because he is the one that logs into those sites that want you to register. His facebook feed is cluttered with ads. I am to the point now that I usually just follow the notifications and don't bother scrolling down the wall. (I think that is what you call it) Ad Block Plus works well for Facebook. I turned it off briefly the other day and couldn't believe what I am missing. :-) I also have "Privacy Badger" running. It detects and blocks trackers. It "learns" as you go. The only time I even notice that either are working is when I try to watch a video from Yahoo News. I get a notice that the ad they are trying to run before the featured video can't load and asks me to disable Ad Block. I don't. If you just wait for the ad to finish (time wise) the video will then play. |
