![]() “One day, our nation’s flag will drape my coffin, just as it did my Dad’s and will my husband’s and brother’s,” Tammy Duckworth, a veteran who lost both of her legs in the Iraq War, tweeted Friday along with a photo of her prosthetic legs. “I will always stand on these legs for the flag and anthem, but it was ALSO my honor to defend people’s right to free speech including those who choose to #TakeAKnee to express outrage at the glaring disparity in how Americans of different races are treated.” -- Posted with my iPhone 8+. |

They absolutely have the right to kneel during the playing of the National Anthem. They may get fired, but not by the government. The team may get fined, but not by the government. The First Amendment is not being violated in any way, shape or form. If you tell your employer to 'get ****ed' and he fires you, the First Amendment offers you no protection. Same deal here, regardless of what some veteran (with or without legs) says. Her injuries have no bearing on the issue. |
