Mr. Luddite
- show quoted text - Wasn't there a news story about a guy who lost all kinds of weight by only eating at McDonnald's for years? ........ Well there’s a girl that would only eat McNuggets and fries. 17 years old and her health is all but wrecked. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/ar...ets-age-2.html |

I don't really think that is true. If anything they are making bigger burgers for more money. Some places have a McDonalds making a mega mac using 2 quarter pounder patties instead of the ~1.7 oz patty they use for a regular burger. Maybe your appetite is just getting bigger ;-) I think part of the obesity problem is the portions have gotten bigger over the years. The plates sizes have gotten bigger. Wasn't there a news story about a guy who lost all kinds of weight by only eating at McDonnald's for years? I listened to an interview with him in KGO. Local liberal radio station these days. He is a school teacher and his students challenged him to eat healthy at McDonalds. Contrary to Supersize me, he said there are lots of healthy choices. The salads, non deep fried chicken, apple slices instead of fries. Leave the gobs of mayo and super sauce off the burger and the calories drop. |

Case a few years ago here where the kid would only eat oatmeal. Had a bunch of health problems. One of the his doctors was at a convention and Ricketts came up. Was what the kid was suffering from. Missing a complete diet. Mom said he would only eat oatmeal. Doctor told here be the parent, put other stuff on his plate. When he got hungry, he would eat. |

Wasn't there a news story about a guy who lost all kinds of weight by only eating at McDonnald's for years? That was Subway (Jared Gogle). The guy had a career from it until they found out he was a pedophile. Morgan Spurlock did a show (Super Size Me) about eating at McDonalds for a month and he ended up with a pretty bad outcome. I imagine it is on Amazon or Netflix |

They have good coffee, and a senior price. Other than that, I used to like the sausage biscuit for breakfast when traveling. I don't find much I really like at McD. We had one across the parking lot from our Ft Myers office and I would walk over there if I was really busy and did not have time to go somewhere. I would usually get some kind of regular sized sandwich and a salad with iced tea. It was still a last resort sort of thing. I worked in Wendys and Burger King, of the two I prefer BK but there is a huge difference in the sanitation and even the quality of the food between stores, even in the same general area. At the very least you should look around a little. If you see something yucky from the counter, just imagine what it looks like in the back and you are probably not wrong. |

I’m meaning the standard Big Mac has gone up in Price but the standard burger seems to have had a shrinking beef patty over the years. I know they now offer “hand crafted” and other variants of the same thing. I be not seen a “mega Mac” even advertised. Like I said- in my area. They swear the standard patties are the same as they always were 1.6 oz (I was wrong with 1.7) Then there is the 4oz patty. That is uncooked so if they start with a fattier burger to start with, it will end up smaller and the longer they cook it the smaller it gets. I know at Wendy's where they fried burgers the grease was hauled away by the bucket and sold along with the used fryer oil. A little fast food gee whiz info. Wendy keeps the burgers on the grill until they sell (so they can say they are cooked fresh) and any that get too old on the grill go into the chili. That is why Wendy sells chili. They make the chili on site using the unsold burgers and a #10 can of instant chili sauce. It is "cooked" right there in the steam table pan. Another thing a lot of people don't know is the "shake" is just a powdered drink that they dump into that freezer machine along with a measured amount of water. It takes a couple hours for that to become a "shake" so it is the first thing they do in the morning. Since we had the register business at both of them, I spent a lot of time behind the counter and as part of the BK contract. our people were training the store managers. I ended up going to BK manager school and got a subset of the whole program. (the actual business end, not so much anything about the food prep or HR). It is really a pretty interesting business. When Wendy rolled out their new registers (a repackaged version of the PC based system BK used) it happened in Naples and I got to meet "Dave". |

Now it's drinkable, and the price is right (for us old guys). |
