gets stopped. In one hand is the phone, other hand a cigarette. We have
had it illegal to hold the phone to use in the car for years. Can not
believe how many still do. And new cars, which you know have Bluetooth
built in.

I don’t know what it is with my wife’s Honda’s. The last two have
sounded the same way. One thing is I thing the radios tone controls have
something to do with it. Not hard to understand but still sounds like
in an oil drum. Maybe it’s also my rotten hearing. Lol!

I think it is also how quiet the car is. My Volt is really quiet, even
with the motor running, and 70 mph. Wife’s Venza has lots of road noise.
Hard to use the phone in hers. My truck is good for the driver, but not
the passenger. The Volt has better microphone or duel ones as both driver
and passenger can use the hands free.

the conversation itself. Holding the phone is not as much of a
distraction as a cigarette or a cup of coffee. Nobody ever got burned

I think the distraction is fumbling with the phone to answer a call or
looking up a contact's phone number and placing the call, especially
if your car doesn't have a Bluetooth system and connection. A Bluetooth
connected phone to a vehicle's system makes it legally "hands free"
but it still can be distracting finding the button (mine's on the
steering wheel) to answer or place a call. I use it sparingly and
even if Mrs.E. calls me while I am driving I try to keep the
conversation short. If someone texts me, I see it on the display
and if I hit a button the computerized voice reads it to me.

It's really annoying when someone texts an image of something.
The voice reads all the file numbers (usually many of them) and
then the extension, usually .jpg. When you are driving, all this
is meaningless.

It probably is the dialing and texting that results in the most
phone-related accidents.

I don't see how talking over the radio can be any more distracting than talking to someone in the
car, especially if they're in the back seat.
