One of my neighbors has a mid 20s center console with a couple of large Mercs on it. He seems to like it just fine but they only go out once or twice a month, and always keep it covered in a boat lift. If he was fishing it hard every day in the Gulf, or on the east coast in the ocean, I suspect his experience would be different. |

That actually sounds like what most of the offshore guys run here fishing out about 40-60 miles. Those grouper cost them about $100 a pound ;-) That kind of boat made sense when gas was 45 cents a gallon. It was 2.759 the last time I filled my cans. The 50 gallons that lasts me a month or more would barely get them out of sight of land. |
