How many here ....
.... have actually read the letter sent to Dianne Feinstein by Christine Blasey (Ford)? I had not until just recently. Honestly don't know what to think about it. For those who have not read it, I have copied and pasted it below: July 30, 2018 CONFIDENTIAL Senator Dianne Feinstein Dear Senator Feinstein: I am writing with information relevant in evaluating the current nominee to the Supreme Court. As a constituent, I expect that you will maintain this as confidential until we have further opportunity to speak. Brett Kavanaugh physically and sexually assaulted me during high school in the early 1980's. He conducted these acts with the assistance of his close friend, Mark G. Judge. Both were 1-2 years older than me and students at a local private school. The assault occurred in a suburban Maryland area home at a gathering that included me and 4 others. Kavanaugh physically pushed me into a bedroom as I was headed for a bathroom up a short stairwell from the living room. They locked the door and played loud music, precluding any successful attempts to yell for help. Kavanaugh was on top of me while laughing with Judge, who periodically jumped onto Kavanaugh. They both laughed as Kavanaugh tried to disrobe me in their highly inebriated state. With Kavanaugh's hand over my mouth, I feared he may inadvertently kill me. From across the room, a very drunken Judge said mixed words to Kavanaugh ranging from "go for it" to "stop." At one point when Judge jumped onto the bed, the weight on me was substantial. The pile toppled, and the two scrapped with each other. After a few attempts to get away, I was able to take this opportune moment to get up and run across to a hallway bathroom. I locked the bathroom door behind me. Both loudly stumbled down the stairwell, at which point other persons at the house were talking with them. I exited the bathroom, ran outside of the house and went home. I have not knowingly seen Kavanaugh since the assault. I did see Judge once at the Potomac Village Safeway, where he was extremely uncomfortable seeing me. I have received medical treatment regarding the assault. On July 6, I notified my local government representative to ask them how to proceed with sharing this information. It is upsetting to discuss sexual assault and its repercussions, yet I felt guilty and compelled as a citizen about the idea of not saying anything. I am available to speak further should you wish to discuss. I am currently vacationing in the mid-Atlantic until August 7th and will be in California after August 10th. In confidence, Christine Blasey Pala Alto, California |

In confidence, Christine Blasey Pala Alto, California I saw the full letter on line. The letter and the woman are credible. I remember some years ago when Bill Cosby was being praised by conservatives because he was speaking out against some of the behaviors of black teenagers. When women started to come forward with complaints about Cosby's unwanted sexual advances and worse, very few people took these women seriously. As the complaints grew, there was still a great reluctance among many to accept the facts that were emerging about Cosby. I have a feeling the complaints about Kavanaugh may grow. There is little doubt remaining that he was a drunk and otherwise obnoxious fella in high school and college, based upon contemporaneous reports from classmates. Once again, though, the Repubs are holding little more than a sham hearing tomorrow and have no real interest in discovering the truth. Limiting questioning to five minutes per Judiciary Committee member says a lot about how not serious the Repubs are and statements that the Committee is going to vote on Friday do not add to its credibility. Hell, the Repub boys on that Committee don't even have the balls to question the witnesses themselves. Meanwhile, Avenatti has released a statement from a client claiming that she witnessed efforts by Kavanaugh and his buddies to get girls drunk so they could be gang-raped. |

I wouldn't believe anything that comes out of Avenatti's mouth. I've seen him interviewed numerous times and my personal "court of public opinion" says he's a sleazy scumbag. Sorry. As for Ford, her letter and her account, I agree with you. She seems credible as to her account of what she said happened. "Credible" doesn't mean true or accurate though. It just means a reasonable person could be "able" to believe it or it is convincing. Kavanaugh could very well have been a heavy drinker in his HS and college days. Or maybe he wasn't. None of the allegations or 36 year old stories should condemn him though. If he drank and acted like an ass in those days the question really is has that behavior continued in his adult life. There is no evidence of that. The problem is that other than the conflicting stories from those who knew him and Ford in those days, there is no hard evidence (to date) that proves her claims. In his case he cannot prove a negative. Our judicial system is still based on innocence unless proven guilty. The court of public opinion led by your party is currently reversing that. Given no definitive proof what if he *is* entirely innocent? Is it right to destroy his career by assuming he is guilty? Please don't give me the FBI investigation thing. That's been well hashed out and is not going to happen. Even 'ol Joe Biden said so back in 1991. All a FBI "investigation" would produce is the same conflicting information that is already being splashed all over the media. The FBI just gathers info. They don't draw a conclusion as to any of it's truthfulness or credibility. |

At this point I think the committee should subpoena (not invite) everyone who has made public claims via attorneys or the media as to Kavanaugh's drinking, girl chasing and persona while in HS and college. That would include all women claiming sexual assault, his college room mate who claims Kavanaugh was a heavy drinker and prone to these activities and the guy (Judge) who supposedly participated in the assault on Ford. I'd also subpoena anyone who made public claims but then recanted their story. Finally, subpoena two or three people who can explain and verify the cryptic meaning of the "Renate Alumnius" comment in the yearbook. The committee should put them all under oath but not before firmly explaining to all of them what being under oath is and the ramifications of lying. That would satisfy me. If they all repeat their stories under oath, then Kavanaugh's nomination should be **** canned. |

Reasonable. -- Posted with my iPhone 8+. |

*From across the room, a very drunken Judge said mixed words to Kavanaugh ranging from "go for it" to "stop." At one point when Judge jumped onto the bed, the weight on me was substantial. I've seen him interviewed numerous times and my personal "court of public opinion" says he's a sleazy scumbag.* Sorry. As for Ford, her letter and her account, I agree with you.* She seems credible as to her account of what she said happened.* "Credible" doesn't mean true or accurate though.* It just means a reasonable person could be "able" to believe it or it is convincing. Kavanaugh could very well have been a heavy drinker in his HS and college days.* Or maybe he wasn't. None of the allegations or 36 year old stories should condemn him though.* If he drank and acted like an ass in those days the question really is has that behavior continued in his adult life.* There is no evidence of that. The problem is that other than the conflicting stories from those who knew him and Ford in those days, there is no hard evidence (to date) that proves her claims.* In his case he cannot prove a negative. Our judicial system is still based on innocence unless proven guilty. The court of public opinion led by your party is currently reversing that. Given no definitive proof what if he *is* entirely innocent?* Is it right to destroy his career by assuming he is guilty? Please don't give me the FBI investigation thing.* That's been well hashed out and is not going to happen.* Even 'ol Joe Biden said so back in 1991.* All a FBI "investigation" would produce is the same conflicting information that is already being splashed all over the media.* The FBI just gathers info.* They don't draw a conclusion as to any of it's truthfulness or credibility. Avenatti has been a lot more truthful and accurate than Trump and his minions of bull****ting thugs. The latest (Julie Swetnick) woman's sworn declaration under penalty of perjury is just devastating. Keep in mind that we are not involved in "the judicial system," or a proceeding. Kavanaugh is after a lifetime appointment. There's no issue in delaying that appointment while a serious investigation takes place. Well, other than Trump wanting a friend on the high court who will protect him. If they all repeat their stories under oath, then Kavanaugh's nomination should be **** canned. That would imply that Democrats wouldn't lie under oath. Based on the evidence right here, I wouldn't buy that. |
