My average is 117/71. There’s enough salt/sodium in foods I usually don’t mess with the salt shaker... You got that right. Anything from a can, bottle or bag is loaded with salt. A few companies are starting to sell a few things with no salt added. It usually costs more. I have a problem with that. Don't they have to buy salt? Salt free should be cheaper. |

So, I've been losing some weight slowly and have been taking a low dose medication to help lower the BP. Yesterday, two tests indicated my BP as 124/72 and 120/70. Not bad. Not bad at all for a 69 year old who hasn't really been into doing everything in a "healthy" manner. I figure tomorrow I'll go out and get hit by a bus. :-) That 124/72 is about where mine is every time I take a physical. Yet, my doc persists in saying it's a bit high and I should work on lowering it, like stop eating salt. I finally went through my military medical records and found a physical from when I was 23 years old. Yup, blood pressure was 126/74. I gave him copy, and he's gotten off my ass. KaCl has a wang to it I just do not like. I suppose I could get used to it but most of the time when I am working outside, electrolyte loss is a bigger problem than BP. What is KaCl ? I would guess, not looking it up but knowing Greg, that it's potassium chloride. I figured that's what he meant but couldn't resist busting his chops. Potassium chloride is KCl, not KaCl No problem, it is the Rec.Boats way ;-) |

You must not do a lot of cooking. Any processed food seems to have a lot of salt. I suppose if you want to be pedantic you can say there is no salt in sugar (bag), distilled water (bottle) but I am having a hard time thinking of much in a can that is not salted and they even put a trace of salt in regular bottled water. (according to my handy dandy $1200 YSI Pro water meter). |

Progress !
I am generally in the 100/60 to 110/70 range when my BP is checked. As to heartrate, my resting heartrate is anywhere between 51 and 57 BPM. Not to bad for a 69 year old male.
