Excellent. If anything you are tending more to hypotension (low blood
pressure) according some some charts.

I suffer from hypothyroidism. Even with the medication I take those who suffer from hypothyroidism tend to have slower heart rates and lower blood pressure. I was at the Dr. Saturday for my 6 month check and my BP was 110/64 and my heart rate was 51 at the time I was there.

For such a little organ the thyroid really has a lot of influence on the
body as a whole.

My wife had the opposite condition ...Hyperthyroidism ... or overactive
thyroid. Noticed it many years ago when her hands shook. At the time
she was also diagnosed with breast cancer and was undergoing treatment
for that. During a private meeting with her oncologist he assured me
that that could deal with the cancer but he was more concerned with
getting the thyroid under control.

Ended up with her drinking some radioactive stuff that killed off about
half (or more) of her thyroid. It worked although she has to take
medication daily to maintain the proper amount of "T4" whatever that is.

The day I took her into Boston for the nuclear medicine drink the doc
told me to have her ride in the back seat on the way home and for me
not to sleep in the same bed with her for a couple of days. I thought
he was making a joke but he was serious. She was temporarily
dangerously radioactive. :-)

Had my twice yearly checkup at the VA yesterday.
Felt pretty good. All my bloodwork results were
normal, kidney and liver functions "excellent"
and the results of a routine EKG indicated
heart function is also "excellent" according to
the Doc.

My only issue I had two years ago when I first started
going to the VA was elevated blood pressure.
At the time it was something like 140/93.
Not off the charts, but needed to be lowered.

So, I've been losing some weight slowly and have
been taking a low dose medication to help lower
the BP.

Yesterday, two tests indicated my BP as 124/72 and
120/70.

Not bad. Not bad at all for a 69 year old who hasn't
really been into doing everything in a "healthy" manner.

I figure tomorrow I'll go out and get hit by a bus. :-)

That 124/72 is about where mine is every time I take a physical. Yet, my doc persists in saying it's
a bit high and I should work on lowering it, like stop eating salt. I finally went through my
military medical records and found a physical from when I was 23 years old. Yup, blood pressure was
126/74. I gave him copy, and he's gotten off my ass.

According to charts I found on the 'net the "124" is "normal". The
"72" is "ideal".

120 or below is "ideal". So my second reading of 120/70 makes me
"ideal, ideal". :-)

I don't use table salt at all to add to food. I use "NoSalt"
which is potassium chloride. Food itself has all the salt you
need from what I understand. It took me a while to adjust to
"NoSalt" but now I prefer it over table salt. Only problem is
that potassium chloride is also a component of the "cocktail" used
for lethal injection executions.

Obviously it's in a much, much stronger dosage than NoSalt.

KaCl has a wang to it I just do not like. I suppose I could get used
to it but most of the time when I am working outside, electrolyte loss
is a bigger problem than BP.

What is KaCl ?

I would guess, not looking it up but knowing Greg, that it's potassium chloride.

I figured that's what he meant but couldn't resist busting his chops.

Potassium chloride is KCl, not KaCl

Bad guess on my part then. I wonder what KaCl really is?

According to Wiki, KACl is an FM radio station in Bismarck, North
Dakota, :-)

LOL!!!

My average is 117/71. There’s enough salt/sodium in foods I usually don’t mess with the salt shaker...

You got that right. Anything from a can, bottle or bag is loaded with
salt.
A few companies are starting to sell a few things with no salt added.
It usually costs more. I have a problem with that. Don't they have to
buy salt? Salt free should be cheaper.

I do almost all the cooking and never add salt while doing so. The final product usually needs a
tad.

Canned tomatoes seem to be one of the worst. I do see a few companies
are talking about "no salt added" these days on some products. The
other option used to be tomato paste because the added salt is
minimal.
Things like chili powder are ridiculous. If I have time I try to make
my own. (dried chilies ground up in the blender with onion and garlic
"powder", not salt). That does end up being a lot more expensive than
the stuff in the bottle tho. On the plus side, you can use less.
