Default merc 75v two stroke 2001


Some one is trying to sell me a boat w a 75HP Merc- 3 seasons old.
Never been serviced. Original Outdrive oil .
Should I pass?

It it is 3 years old, then it probably has minimal need of service. The need
of service increase with age.
If the price is right, go for it.

Take it to a certified Merc dealer you can trust and have them do a complete
service on the engine. Pay for compression check, change oil in lower unit.
Tell them you want to know of any problems. Don't tell them it is not yours
as they may say it is junk and offer to sell you a new one. They should
tell you if any water or wear in the lower unit and what the compression is
and if there is any problems w/ the carbs and stuff.
