That's true but either way I feel safer. In the case of Costco they
have made it store policy so that both employees and customers feel
safer. That's not a bad thing in my opinion. I really don't
understand this rebel without a cause attitude that some seem to have.
It's unfortunate that the issue has become politicized.


Costco probably has the best protocol I have seen, assuming it hasn't
slipped in the last month or so. They are serious about distancing and
they wipe down the checkout area after every customer. That doesn't do
anything about surface contamination in the rest of the store but if
someone comes down with the virus, they have plausible deniability
that you got it there.

Greg is right that procedures are less than optimal and would not pass
muster in an operating room, but anything is better than nothing in my
opinion.

Better than nothing is a pretty weak argument. That is particularly
true when people are doing exactly the opposite of proper protocols in
most cases.

Raising awareness is good also. If people don't like store
policy they can always shop elsewhere.

So it is just a symbol that you care.

Actually I agree. The medical people are trying to prevent disease,
hence the protocols, the people at Costco are being politically
correct and perhaps Costco is trying to avoid some litigation.

Understand that I'm not advocating to not wear a mask. In fact, my wife and I wear one when we're in the grocery store or someplace it makes sense. I was just pointing out why the procedures and protocol is different.

As far as people in this area, my wife went to Publix Friday morning, and she commented that practically everyone was wearing a mask. I went to Sportman's Warehouse last week, and few were wearing them. Same for Lowes. It seems to be a macho thing to not wear one. Makes no sense to me.

Like I said, the procedures and protocol in my doctor's office has changed to
mask-wearing since the covid thing broke.

months but they limit the number of people in there, they stopped
giving out free food and they cleared out the aisles so you are not
bunched up. Walmart is the same way. It is easy to keep a reasonable
distance. If you read the current guess, they also say the problem is
prolonged contact, not just walking past someone.
When you look at the recent outbreaks, that seems to be true too. They
are people who were sitting in pews together or at a big party,
probably passing a joint around among other things.

Went to Costco and Safeway today. Both had many customers and employees in the
store. I saw not one person without a mask. Not one. I suppose we were all

store. Only exceptions are children under 2 years old. This mandate
was issued back on May 4th.

Publix is even loosening up on the employees. No Safeway here.

people over 70 years old. To do otherwise would be like walking into
a free fire zone without a kevlar vest and steel pot. You might make

That's true but either way I feel safer. In the case of Costco they
have made it store policy so that both employees and customers feel
safer. That's not a bad thing in my opinion. I really don't
understand this rebel without a cause attitude that some seem to have.
It's unfortunate that the issue has become politicized.

Greg is right that procedures are less than optimal and would not pass
muster in an operating room, but anything is better than nothing in my
opinion. Raising awareness is good also. If people don't like store
policy they can always shop elsewhere.

Understand that I'm not advocating to not wear a mask. In fact, my wife and I wear one when we're in the grocery store or someplace it makes sense.. I was just pointing out why the procedures and protocol is different.

As far as people in this area, my wife went to Publix Friday morning, and she commented that practically everyone was wearing a mask. I went to Sportman's Warehouse last week, and few were wearing them. Same for Lowes. It seems to be a macho thing to not wear one. Makes no sense to me.

Like I said, the procedures and protocol in my doctor's office has changed to
mask-wearing since the covid thing broke.
