1985 Bayliner
I just got this 1985 Bayliner Trophy with a 5.0 liter V8 Volvo Penta dual outdrive for free, and I'm wondering if it's worth keeping, it's in great shape and has been under a cover for 10 years. The specs claim 220 hp. It has a hard top inclosing the cockpic. 1985 was a full 2yrs before Brunswick made any changes, so anyone have any opinions? Keep it clean please.

Of course there is an old saying that nothing is more expensive than a free boat, but that's true about all boats, not just free ones. Maintenance, storage, insurance and operating costs always turn out to be higher than you expect so be prepared for sticker shock on all of that. If you're not prepared for surprises than it might be better to sell before you get in too deep. The best part of that package is the Volvo duoprop. Its worth some money assuming it isn't trashed. We can assume the rest of that package is trash. |
