Biden will immediately place Covid controls on all the states, forcing them to
adopt his, and only his, plan which will have the Covid problem resolved within
at three months. By Feb 1, he will have vaccinated at least 150 million people.

===

That would be a fantastic accomplishment if he can actually do it. The
army certainly knows how to vaccinate a large number of people in a
short time - no needles required either.

So does cvs and some supermarket chains. Needles required.

Around here, at least two of the supermarket chains have full pharmacies
and the pharmacist on duty does flu, shingles, and possibly other
inoculations. They have been trained on how to inoculate. But they are
not set up for doing a large number of inoculations a day. The armed
forces have lots of trained personnel who can inoculate and there is no
reason not to use them. Inoculating is not a posse comitatus issue. I am
sure military personnel in this country would appreciate the ability to
perform, if properly protected, a direct public service that would be
greatly appreciated.

They make up for it by having one or more of those places at virtually
every big intersection. There are about 40 of them within 10 miles of
me in Fumbuck Florida. They can certainly dispense this vaccine as
fast as the manufacturers can produce it. If you are saying the
military could spare medics and corpsmen to help out with staffing ...
maybe.
I wonder if that is actually true (that there is this surplus in the
military) but up until now you have been telling me they are
uneducated grunts and we need real board certified people to treat
civilians.

Wow. I don't see many of Herring's posts, but it is Biden's stated goal
to have a million Americans vaccinated a day. I favor him doing whatever
is necessary to achieve that goal. Further, I favor those who are
inoculated being issued some sort of photo ID that indicates they have
been, and that those who do not get inoculated and have an ID be kept
out of public places, such as restaurants, sporting arenas, public
pools, libraries, schools, et cetera, *unless* they have a serious,
documented medical condition that precludes vaccination. We need a
national plan, nationally implemented. The states are showing they do
not have the wherewithal to get everyone inoculated.

In the mid-1950s, when the Salk vaccine became available, every kid in
New Haven went to the nearest public school for the shots, and I mean
every kid. The inoculations were provided without charge, and those
doing the injections were school nurses, doctors' office personnel, and
hospital personnel, all of whom donated their time to help rid the city
of new cases of polio.

I've always believed in mandatory vaccinations and in the exclusion of
kids from public schools who don't get vaccinated unless they have a
serious medical condition that precludes it. Being "anti-vax" is not an
acceptable reason.

And how is Biden going to get a million a day vaccinated? The government
is not making the vaccine, CDC did not develop the vaccine, when the
pipeline fills up, it will not be because of who is President. You may try
to,claim that, but you will be required to have proof that the President
did accomplish anything to help, fill the pipeline. When the pipeline is
filled, CVS, Walmart, .Costco, and grocery chains will do the vaccinations.

Those devices were relatively new when I was in. In order to boost our
confidence, the corps man would periodically test the device by slicing a
leather belt. And he would say something like, "This only happens if you
move".

I don’t know if they were new, but they got us in both arms at the same
time in 1965.

That is certainly the case here. We have the infrastructure to
vaccinate people, either through the local governments or through
private pharmacies. We just don't have the vaccine. In that "stand in
line in the rain" event last week, each location had around 300 shots.
They were out in a couple hours.
We don't see the news covering the stand in line on a sunny day story.
(It rained here exactly once in the last couple weeks).
Now they are doing it by appointment like they should have been doing
all along. I guess it is the government and they don't want to
discriminate against people too stupid to be able to make an
appointment. They will still take a certain number of walk ins.

Same here. I don't think we did much more than freeze for the 2
seconds they were squeezing the triggers on the guns. The line stayed
moving. I think they did the whole company (100 guys) in about 5
minutes. It was just part of a pretty busy day, getting uniforms,
stenciling everything, packing your sea bag, learning how to make up a
military bed and such.

Don't tell me, convince Harry. My nieces kid (Tiffany) was a navy
corpsman, working as a nurse in a couple of navy hospitals and on a
carrier. She still had to go to nursing school to get her civilian
ticket although it was mostly just money. She tested out of a lot of
her courses but she still had to buy them.

My friend was a medic for Marines in Vietnam. Seemed to be well trained,
later an MD and Phd in bioengineering. But I guess he was too stupid to
avoid the draft. Actually he was drafted in his senior year at university
San Diego, as he did not take enough credits to get a deferment. Seems as
if he did better than Harry, and actually served. His next 2 tours in
Vietnam was as a Phantom driver. Retired as a 32 year Marine reservist
officer also.
