area received an allotment of the Moderna vaccine sufficient
to make it available to all Vets in this area.

Don, who pays for the vaccination shots in Canada?

Just to be clear, you should understand that the corvid vaccinations
in the USA are paid for by the US government for *everyone*. You
don't need to be a Vet to get it for "free" (which it really isn't
anyway).

I just got lucky in the lottery of things that the VA in my
area received an allotment of the Moderna vaccine sufficient
to make it available to all Vets in this area.

It's not so everywhere.

Actual vaccine provided by the Fed's. Not sure who pays the doctors, pharmacies, nurses etc who will administer it.
Just to keep the jackels at bay, yes the same poor taxpayer funds the federal, provincial and municipal governments.

Right now I think the taxpayer is picking up the whole tab. I know
that is true now with the 65 and over crowd being vaccinated here now.

Last fall I got a flu shot at a local Walgreens pharmacy because
I happened to be there picking up some meds for Mrs.E. and it was
convenient. I expected to pay for it but was told
if I had Medicare, it was free ... to me anyway.

I received a statement from Walgreens later showing the costs.
I've forgotten the exact numbers but Walgreens had the shot
priced about 6 pt 8 dollars more than what Medicare paid according
to the statement.

I am sure it works the same way for the corvid shots except you don't
have to have Medicare.

There is a stated timeframe for the 2nd shot. I've read that in the case of the Moderna vaccine the second dose is recommended 28 days after the first however the time between the firstand second dose can be extended to 48 days.I've also read that the first Moderna and the first Pfizer dose raisesyour "immunity" to over 90 percent. The second dose only adds two orthree percent more, according to the testing. If true, it seems likeskipping the second dose making more vaccine available for others mightbe worth considering. I'd gladly forgo the second dose if Mrs.E.could receive her first instead.I am scheduled for the second Moderna dose next Saturday (March 13th)and am very fortunate that the VA made the vaccinations available.Most seniors in MA are still having a hard time scheduling anappointment to get the vaccine. Our friends from Plymouth got their first shots at two different
Publix. in Miami Monday. A 2 1/2 drive each way from their condo
on Little Hickory Island. We had dinner with them last night.
She's fine but she had to cut his meat for him because his arm is
still unusable. He had to cancel two golf dates this week.



People seem to react differently to the shot. I didn't notice anything
after the first Moderna dose other than a very slightly sore arm the
next day which is pretty much normal for any kind of shot.

Hopefully it will be the same after the second dose next Saturday.

We have friends up here who have already received the single
dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Haven't heard of any bad
reactions so far.

It's still hard to get an appointment for any of the vaccines. Those
who have been successful sit on a computer or cell all day long,
watching for an opening at one of about four mass vaccination
venues. Mrs.E. remains on a waiting list at a smaller, local
facility.

Have you guys received yours yet?
