Use of deadly force has nothing to do with guilt. It has to do with
the imminent threat to the officer and in this case being an unarmed
woman is significant.

When did trespassing become a capital offense?

It isn't. They are making it a "Capitol" offense, like the Capitol is
much more important than a federal court house. (or even your house if

DC is one of those places. In fact you are not even able to have a
loaded gun in your house. It needs to be disassembled and stored away
from the ammunition. "Heller" (SCOTUS decision) overturned that law
but in contempt of the Supreme Court, DC still enforces it.
It is also an "Obligation of retreat" place.
You need to demonstrate that there was no possible way you could have
escaped before you are allowed to use ANY force to defend yourself.

trespass. And the mob, which she was a part of, was demonstrating
violent behavior and had already broken through other barriers. The
armed guards had locked the doors and were attempting to provide
safety for members of congress.
