Fuel gauge problem with 4winns
Have 1994 4wins 190. Fuel gauge reads half full when full. Replaced fuel sender
in tank. Still reads half full when full. Gauge moves full swing from way below "E" to half full. Gauge moves proper distance just not in the proper place. Is there a calibration screw or adjustment behind the fuel gauge. Looks like dash guages are in a "pod" or one solid unit. If so How do you get the gauges out without destroying them Comments or suggestions welcomed. Mike in NH |

The sender should read about 30 ohms with arm up (full tank), about 240 ohms with the arm full down (empty tank). If the above conditions are met, go next to the wiring and the gauge. If the gauge won't read above half scale, then it's not getting a low resistance sent to it (or of course, the gauge may be bad). May just be corrosion on the terminals of the sender or the gauge. Measure sender signal at gauge. Clean ring tongues, etc. The gauge should be powered by an ignition-switched +12VDC, but wouldn't expect this to be a problem. The only ground going to the gauge should be the one from the sender. C. J. Klingman Austin, TX |

Fuel gauge problem with 4winns
Over the weekend I had a similiar problem with my friend's fuel gauge. He
replaced the fuel sending unit last week because it floated from side-to-side. But, when we went out on Sunday, we ran out of gas, but the gauge said 1/2 tank. Is there an adjustment or some other way. Thanks "MGrant0606" wrote in message ... Have 1994 4wins 190. Fuel gauge reads half full when full. Replaced fuel sender in tank. Sounds like the sending unit might be hanging up. You must make sure that
the float is free to move the entire range. You can also connect the sending unit out of the tank and manually move it thru the range to make sure the gauge reads correctly. It must be grounded to work correctly. Some of the universal replacements are adustable to fit a variety of tank depths, they must be adjusted correctly. "Ron K." wrote in message ... You have to get the right sender for the guage. There are a couple of
different ohm range values for guages. Bill "JamesgangNC" wrote in message .net... Sounds like the sending unit might be hanging up.
