getting rid of hull slime?
Mary Kate On & Off works terrific on fiberglass...but I'm not sure it can be
used on aluminum boats that are anodized. Call the manufacturer: 1-800-272-8963 "Sigurd246" wrote in message ... my boat is docked for the summer in one of our southern ohio lakes. the water temperature commonly goes above 80 degrees for most of the summer. consequently, when i take the boat out to trailer it, the entire bottom is covered with a thick layer of scum and slime i dont know the scientific terms for this green crap, but i do know that it is very difficult to remove. my boat is a 21 foot aluminum hull, sylvan, sportfisher. it has a painted hull. can anyone tell me a good way to get rid of this stuff? i have tried powerwash (at the local carwash) and it barely removes any of this stuff. last year i had to get under the boat, on my back, and scrub very long and hard to get cleaned. is this the only way to deal with this problem? thanks. |

getting rid of hull slime?
Why not simply paint the bottom with bottom paint? This will keep the
bottom clean from slime due to prolonged exposure in water. Although it runs approx. $180/gallon, it works like a champ. We use Trinidad SR for our sailboat, which sits year round in the Miami River when we're not out cruising. You can find this and similar products at West Marine or any chandlery. Good luck.
