Garmin 225 replacement.....
Why replace it? It's a nice unit. Doesn't do WAAS (but you have DGPS).
Uses the announced to be discontinued G-chart cartridges, but you are still good to go for a couple of years. The equivalent unit today would be the 2006C, which will run you $2000, plus $100 or so for the Blue chart cartography, plus more for additional unlocks if you need them -- Chuck Tribolet http://www.almaden.ibm.com/cs/people/triblet Silicon Valley: STILL the best day job in the world. "Gene Kearns" wrote in message ... I currently have a Garmin 225 (DGPS) interfaced to a Furuno 1621 Radar and Standard Horizon VHF. It is about time to replace the Garmin while it still has commercial value. Question is.... what would you suggest as a replacement? -- Grady-White Gulfstream, out of Southport, NC. http://myworkshop.idleplay.net/cavern/ Homepage http://www.southharbourvillage.com/directions.asp Where Southport,NC is located. http://www.southharbourvillage.com/autoupdater.htm Real Time Pictures at My Marina http://www.thebayguide.com/rec.boats Rec.boats at Lee Yeaton's Bayguide |

Garmin 225 replacement.....
Raymarine Raystar 120 NMEA model. WAAS-GPS, 3 meters accuracy, the
whole GPS receiver is built right into the little antenna dome. You provide it with 8-24V and it provides you with NMEA statements for your Furuno and Standard. If you need another display for backup, any Raymarine or other manufacturer's display unit will listen to it. Watching the RL70CRC Plus display on Lionheart at the dock, accuracy is about 6' from the antenna's position under the hardtop out of the weather. Amazing receiver sensitivity.....NO COAX CABLE TO BREAK! Connections to it is a simple multiconductor cable and you get a LOT of that.... It also works with EGNOS in Europe and MSAS in Asia. http://www.bethel-marine.com/Raymarine_GPS2A.htm On Sat, 03 Jan 2004 22:16:38 -0500, Gene Kearns wrote: I currently have a Garmin 225 (DGPS) interfaced to a Furuno 1621 Radar and Standard Horizon VHF. Garmin 225 replacement.....
Sorry about the dupes. My newsreader was giving errors and said it had not been sent,
so I kept tweaking stuff and trying again. -- Chuck Tribolet http://www.almaden.ibm.com/cs/people/triblet Silicon Valley: STILL the best day job in the world. "Chuck Tribolet" wrote in message ... The Garmin 17N OEM sensor is $100 less street price at about $180. Does
the same thing. You give it 12 volts or so and it tells you where you are with NMEA sentences. Joe Wood Larry W4CSC wrote: Raymarine Raystar 120 NMEA model. Garmin 225 replacement.....
All... Chuck has a really nice web page devoted to his Boston Whaler
Montauk. Quite a shipshape boat with everything in its place, and a place for every thing! You can reach the page through his work link below, or directly through this one: http://www.garlic.com/~triblet/whaler/ "Chuck Tribolet" wrote in message ... Why replace it? It's a nice unit.
