We could bomb Minnesota. A thermonuclear blast ought to raise your
temps
above freezing for awhile.

Nuclear NOYB. You must have shares in a bomb making company.

He's our own little Curtis LeMay...

"If you are going to use military force, then you ought to use
overwhelming military force. Use too much and deliberately use too much..
you'll save lives, not only your own, but the enemy's too." -Curtis LeMay

If LeMay's policies would have been implemented, then today there'd be a
unified Korea, we'd have won the Vietnam War, and Castro wouldn't have
survived the Cuban missile crisis. Of course, the World probably would
have ended sometime in the 70's when he launched an all-out pre-emptive
strike against the Soviets...but nobody's perfect.

LeMay would have inititated a nuclear war...

Isn't that what I just said?

Regardless, his strategy for blasting Japanese cities into oblivion is what
won the war for us.

The war against the Japanese was won before we dropped the nukes.

Of course it was...because before the nukes were dropped, the LeMay-led
Strategic Air Offensive was dropping napalm on Tokyo and other Japanese
cities. There were estimates at the time that a ground assault on the
Japanese home islands would have led to 1 million US casualties. If we had
to fight WWII again today, we'd sacrifice those million men rather than
make the difficult decision to target civilian cities form the air (ex--
Fallujah). We don't have the stomach to do the things necessary to win a
war today.

In Don's defense the Cuban exiles involved in the invasion were trained

and
armed by the US CIA, all at the approval of Kennedy....so it was in fact a
US led operation. Additionally the invasion was indeed a complete failure
and a black eye to Kennedy.

Thank you. I knew the CIA were involved but wasn't sure if the military
were involved covertly.

But the Japanese would not surrender. Took 2 bombs to make them change
their mind. They still would not surrender after the first.

There's a wonderful example. Everyone has a roof over the heads, but
most of them leak. Everyone is equal in poverty. At least in a free
market government, the people who achieve can rise above it. In
socialist/communist nations, the achievers pay for the non-achievers
thereby discouraging anyone from achieving, as there are no extra
rewards for doing so.
Dave

Hi Dave: Have you ever been to Cuba or do you just listen to Bush's
propaganda about Cuba?

I'm not allowed to go to Cuba. But I have been to Florida, and I know
many former Cubans. The stories they tell are not good ones. Why do
you suppose they come in droves to this country in anything that
floats?

The houses there do not have leaky roofs any more than you have one.
Everyone is not in poverty there.

No, like in most communist/socialist nations, there are a minority of
"connected" people who enjoy some of the fruits normally associated
with democratic societies. But the majority of the people live in what
would be considered poverty by our standards.

Before you type your comments, get your
facts straight.

As always, my facts are straight. Otherwise I wouldn't post them.

There are new cars being purchased, just not American
ones.

Funny, the cars that are shown there make it look like a time warp
back to the 60's. The common people still maintain cars that I can't
even find in a junkyard anymore here. The truck converted to a boat
that brought that load from Cuba last year was a 1953 model. The
Buick-boat that came here about a year ago was a 1959 model IIRC.

I have been there. I have family that lives there for part of the year and
have been doing so for more than 30 years.
Of course, life there could be better if the USA would lift the embargo.

So how far removed is Fidel from your family?

Vietnam Vet Freezes To Death Christmas Eve

...................................snip........ ............................

A very high percentage of homeless males in that age group are
Vietnam-era vets. Of those, an extremely high number are suffering form
some sort of mental illness. It's too bad we no longer have a safety net.

Only in America........Billions of dollars spent on war and not enough to
have housing for the homeless.

Maybe if the homeless would get a job, they wouldn't be homeless.
Wal-Mart is always hiring.......

Wal-Mart doesn't pay enough in the city suburbs to keep a roof over your
head.

Yes it does, if you learn to budget wisely. I know people who do it.
Granted they have next to nothing, and don't live in the best of
places, but it beats the street.

My daughter's college friend went to visit family in Cuba about 5 years ago.
She kissed the ground on returning to the USA. She said it was very
depressing seeing the poverty and living conditions of the people. Her
people are probably common folk as opposed to the upper echelon group, close
to Fidel, that the Canadian's live among.

You are the one programmed by propaganda. this is the comment of a 21 year
old young lady on returning from a legal trip to Cuba. If you have family,
you may legally visit even if a US citizen.

I have a friend that is a prominent fed attorney, born in Havanna that says
the same thing.

Poor asslicker, he's been drinking the koolaid for so long he cannot get
his two brain cells to connect.
