And the only reporter with a decent question! Thank you. Senate Democratic leaders have painted a very bleak picture of the U.S. economy. [Senate Minority Leader] Harry Reid [D-NV] was talking about soup lines. And [Senator] Hillary Clinton [D-NY] was talking about the economy being on the verge of collapse. Yet in the same breath they say that Social Security is rock solid and there's no crisis there. How are you going to work -- you've said you are going to reach out to these people -- how are you going to work with people who seem to have divorced themselves from reality? Good one, no? With all due respect John, you need to back off this one - you can't win. The fact that Guckert (in his Gannon role) lobbed softballs at Bush is about the same as Nora O'Donnel lobbing softballs at Clinton - it's all perspective - isn't a valid argument. Guckert is an idiot - proof is that he worked for a "news" service which really isn't a news service but the arm of a political action committee run by an RNC fund raiser. Even the right wing blogosphere agrees that Guckert/Gannon is an idiot. All this is reaction to the Eason Jordan resignation and frankly, isn't worth your time or effort because, frankly, all of the Guckert/Gannon thing is true. Doesn't make it wrong in any sense, but it is true - you can't argue and maintain some kind of credibility. Later, Tom |

Later, Tom You've not seen me argue about Gannon's credibility, credentials, professionalism, or any other aspect of his 'reporting'. I stated only that he asked a good question, a rarity among those usually asked. Whether or not he's a scumbag is not my point.
