Default Newbie question, how to cut electric power ?

My new old boat has a 1997 quicksilver shifter. I pulled the key out ,
power still availabel for the controls. Is there a switch I can shut
off power to the tilt and trim and others ?

I would check inline for a switch or you may have a grounding problem. Me
personally,,, I would check the harness and the other wiring on a boat I
just bought for my piece of mind.

Power to tilt / trim is usually "always on". There is often need to
manipulate trim in a non-running boat.

Steve,
If you don't already have a second battery I'd get one. Then get an "A -
off - B - Both" battery switch, which go for $35 to $100 so you have
choices.

Your boat is wired correctly. The trim/tilt work with the engine off
so that you can raise/lower the motor while trailering.

If you want to disconnect the battery completely, BoatUS or WestMarine
both sell switches for this purpose.
