Default New to boating

My wife and I are looking at buying a boat. We found a great boat that
looks like it is a good deal. Does anyone have any information on this
boat, either positive or negative?

We are looking to use this boat as a place to stay on the weekends and for
cruising to the Bahamas.

From your post it appears you are an east coaster. The boat is on the west
coast. I'd suggest you can find a boat that suits you for a price that
suits you on the east coast??? And, subsequently avoid all the costs of
determining if the weat coast boat suits you and the cost of transportation
if you decide to buy???

I believe the boat would make a fine weekend cottage and be OK for visiting
the Bahamas if you select your days carefully to avoid rough conditions.

A rookie with a 50 foot yacht? That will be an interesting sight when you
dock it the first few times...

Hey, I'm looking for another boat too -- what do you think of this one?

It looks like it would be a lot of work if you enjoy that kind of thing.

When you say "rookie" how "rookie"?

This is a lot of boat for a first timer. If you have experience with
some recency with vessels this large, then fine. If not, then I would
look for something a little smaller - you can always upgrade later.

This is also a Left Coast boat - getting to the Right Coast could be
problematic.

Not to mention getting it surveyed, insured, etc.

Maybe look a little closer to home?

Later,

Tom

I have been out on many other boats, have helmed them, but have never docked
one. I figured I could hire a captain to teach me.

Well, that's true, but still...

Hey, it's your money - if you like it and can afford to get it to
where you are with little muss or fuss - have at it.

Just have it surveyed before you buy it.

Good luck.

Later,

Tom
