Default Living on a boat

The largest boat I have ever owned was an 18 foot Glastron. I am hoping
to buy a larger houseboat or cabin cruiser to live on during the summer
months. I plan on spending the warmer months on the North and South
Dakota Missouri River Lakes and then working my way down the Missouri
River to the Mississippi River when the weather turns colder. Have any
of you ever portaged larger boats around the Dams on the Missouri River
system? If you have what kind of costs were involved and what specific
problems did you encounter?
TIA.

Read "River Horse," by William Least Heat Moon, to find how a guy in a
C-Dory goes all across the country from east to west coasts. He spends a
lot of time on the Big Muddy.

I live aboard 12 months out of the year, but stay at my namy water
front homes for long weekends, and vacations.
