We are looking at replacing the wheels on our Ocean 48 SS 1991 (New
model hull)w/ 671 485HP engines. (1.5 ratio transmissions) I would like to know what other people with this boat have for wheels and what cruise speed @ full load. We are using 24x27 no cup 3 blade wheels and with full fuel, water and lots of gear (Island loaded) we only turn 2275 and at 2200 we are only getting 20 Kts. (2500 should be WOT) That comes out to 37.5% slip. Not great for any boat, especially bad for an ocean. After talking to several shops we would like to try 24x24 4 blade, medium cup OR 25x25 3 blade medium cup. We obviously need more blade and less pitch but any help with actual data from this boat would save us time and $$$. ALSO... if anyone have a similar pair for sale I would be interested. 1.75" Shafts. Thanks Ed |
