OT Bush hatred
Thomas Jefferson did not add the 2nd amendment to protect hunting
privileges. Was a direct challenge to the political leaders to stay the course. Bill "Don White" wrote in message ... Is that all?? I'd encourage him to go farther......outlaw all handguns and assault weapons except for police/military. I have to keep trigger locks on my rifle & shotgun....just good common sense. NOYB wrote in message link.net... Gun Control Senator Kerry is deeply troubled by the numbers of people - and particularly the number of children - that are wounded or killed by gunfire each year and he supports stricter gun control measures in order to prevent children and adults from misusing any of the approximately 192 million firearms currently in circulation in the United States. He believes that we need to close the gun show loophole, which permits sales at gun shows without a background check, require the provision of a child safety lock on all handguns, and increase controls on assault weapons and HANDGUNS. |

"Butch Ammon" wrote in message John Kerry is not the greatest candidate out there. He's way too far left. If you compare the voting records of our two Senators on significant legislation over the past 15 years or so, you find (ironically, to some) that John Kerry is to the left of Ted Kennedy. It's been a long, long time since Teddy has been called "...the conservative one..." |

... Don't know what you 'mericans would consider as assault...but I say.... anything that holds more than 5 rounds or shells. and certainly automatic weapons such as AK47's & M16's Machine pistols etc OK...you want to redesign revolvers? :-) And, you may as well limit handguns to 3 rounds. Anyone who's taken a good defensive shooting course is taught to put two in the torso, count to 1, and if you still see a face on a standing body, 1 to the head. |

Ask around at any gun shop or shooting range and you'll be told that cops are among the most UNsafe gun handlers. Most law-abiding gun owners are obsessed with safety. The few that are not are much lower in numbers than people who pose a daily threat to society every time they start their cars. |

... Wouldn't you like your girls to live in a safer world? Who needs all those guns? First, let's instruct our police to aggressively bully people who drive in the winter with their windows all fogged up and covered with snow. While they're at it, they can quadruple the number of sobriety checkpoints. Forget criminals, who will always find a way to hurt & kill people. Focus on "regular people" who've done bad things with guns. How many incidents do you recall over the past 10 years? Big stuff that made news, and caused legislators to get on their soap boxes? Maybe 3 or 5? |

... No problem for you or the girls...it's the unstable people who might buy or steal readily available guns and commit mayhem. As with most laws...the majority of solid citizens have to suffer inconvenience to help thwart the criminal types. The less guns in circulation....the less chance small time criminals or kids will misuse one. The hard core criminals will easily arm themselves whatever the law is. Many hunters enjoy the challenge of using handguns for deer, and never carry those guns at any other time. No more handguns for them? |

First, let's instruct our police to aggressively bully people who drive in the winter with their windows all fogged up and covered with snow. While they're at it, they can quadruple the number of sobriety checkpoints. Personally, I want a total country wide ban on alcohol sales - period, end-of-discussion. However that is not a practical solution, so my proposal is .05 alcohol level as illegal and first offense for drunk driving is automatic suspension and removal of the driver's license for a period of one year and restricted priviledges for 5 years after reenstatement (only drive from home to work for example) - no exceptions. I also don't believe that the courts should be involved - you are caught, you pay the piper. Later, Tom S. "Doug Kanter" wrote in message ... "NOYB" wrote in message ink.net... With the president, we have no other measure, unless we can find a way to spend a day with him, asking him questions of our own. You may say we can judge him by his actions, but that's probably not a good idea. That's a very good idea. Judge him by his actions...not whether you agree with them...but whether or not the end results were/are positive. Didn't agree with the tax cuts? So what. There is hardly anybody dumb enough to say that they didn't help spark the economy. Didn't agree with the war in Iraq? So what. It's hard to find someone who believes the World would be a better place with Saddam still in power. Don't agree with the Patriot Act and the detention of all those bad guys in Guantanamo? So what. Since 9/11, there have been no major attacks on our country despite al Qaeda's best efforts. Oh. I see. But, perhaps you should meditate on the difference between cause and correlation. Fine, Doug. So Bush is Forrest Gump...and everything just happens to work out or him... |
