Sterndrive Engineering launched it's new web site today at It's impressive, but I think I liked it better the way it was. I'd rather see my $1200 go into aluminum and stainless steel than slick graphics and flashy animation. I'd rather think that my drive was put together by some curmudgeon in greasy coveralls than a pack of Abercrombie and Fitch models, if you know what I mean. |

Aw come on, Joe, get with the times! If I had looked at
http://www.fourwinns.com/ for my new boat but it looked like http://davidfiedler.com/boating.htm instead, I certainly wouldn't have though them a professional company. Good companies should have good websites, there's nothing wrong with that. I liked it! Hopefully I won't need one of their products anytime soon though! Would I be riding around in a 27 year old boat if I wanted to "get with the times?" Seriously, SEI's original site looked professional, neither amateurish nor excessively flashy. The new one looks a little like the promo site for a movie or video game or something. I think all that flash might put off someone who's just looking for a good deal on a drive. Bear in mind, of course, that my marketing skills are one of the reasons that I have the aforementioned boat instead of a shiny new Four Winns ... |
