Stern Drive Locks - Alternative to McGard?
I heard there are only 3 different keys for the McGard locks. Is
there a better way to secure your stern drive? What creative ideas have folks here come up with? |

Where did you hear that? I have their prop lock and based onthe design it
could have lots of different keys. Why would they only make three? "Slambram" wrote in message ... I heard there are only 3 different keys for the McGard locks. Is there a better way to secure your stern drive? What creative ideas have folks here come up with? |

A friend who read it on another board who heard... That's why i made sure i said, "i heard." Not sure if it's true or not. If i had to guess why, i'd say it's because they don't sell a whole lot of them (at least comapred to locking lug nuts) so it's to keep their costs down. He also said he remembered there being a general consensus there was superior way to lock your drive, but couldn't remember what it was. Ever hear the rumor that there were only like 6 (or some surprisingly low number) combinations for Corvette keys up until a few years ago? |
