Midwest (Illinois & Missouri) lakes most weekends from Mid-May til Mid-Sept,
skiing & tubing, swimming, etc. 120+ running hrs last summer. "JimH" wrote in message ... We would typically splash our boat during the 1st week of May and pull it out by mid October, logging an average of 60-65 engine hours/year. Fishing rarely involved trolling.....mainly drifting or at anchor. The majority of the boat use was to cruise to beaches for swimming while at anchor and to other ports on Lake Erie including Leamington, Canada and the Islands. We would also head up to Metro Beach on Lake St. Clair once/year. How about you? |

Over 600 hours. Primarily on USCG Safety patrols of 8 hours, at least twice
a week. Mostly just at 10-12 knots, a few minutes on plane (15-20 knots) if going someplace in particular. Used to take the grandchildren wakeboarding several times a month during the summer, but with all the patrols and some traveling, didn't get to do much recreational boating the last couple of years. Couple of hundred hours. Lots on the kicker trolling for salmon in the
ocean and trout in the lakes. We also ski and tube behind the boat. But since I live in SF Bay area, we can boat all year. Fish sturgeon and steelhead in the winter. Do you just get gas...or do they pay some kind of hourly/mileage charge? |

We generally run about 60 hours on our primary lake (Raystown Lake at Huntingdon, PA) but the advantage (to us) of having a trailerable boat is that we also visit other lakes. Last year we put about 30 hours while on Lake Erie with my brother's family and this year we are working on an outing to Lake Hartwell or Lake Murray (both in South Carolina).
