When fishing in an area/spot do you let your engine idle or do you turn it
off until you are ready to move to another location. I fish on Puget Sound usually south of the Narrows Bridge. I am relatively new to boating and was just looking for information. |

Just curious what size of boat and motor are you using? Im in the Tacoma
area and know the narrows pretty good. Some good fishing is around the the bridge but need to watch the strong currents. What are you fishing for salmon or bottom fish ? thanks Ed "Larry D Gibbs" wrote in message ... I have a 2001 Bayliner Classic Capri 1950 which has a 135 Horsepower Merc. I
am fairly new to boating and have done some bottom fishing and will do Salmon. I have been launching from Solo Point. Do you by any chance know of any good crabbing spots south of the Narrows? I will be out crabbing when the season opens. I have been told by my friend that I will need a trolling motor because he doesn't think I will be able to go slow enough with the main engine, do you know if this is true or not. I am aware that I should have a kicker engine but do not want to spend the money right now. I did get towing insurance just in case I get stranded somehow. "ed" wrote in message ... A 135 hp Capri should have no problem going that slow. |

I like to set up so any structure usually results in a reasonably straight line. However, if I'm in a close quarters, high current area, or the wind is acting up, then I leave the engine running - play it safe. I also leave it running if there is a lot of boat traffic - in particular sail boats. A lot of these dumbasses would just as soon run you over as have to move the wheel a quarter turn to avoid a collision. And before any sailors protest, I'm talking about a specific group of dumbasses infesting Narragansett Bay. It's been my experience that most of the people in this particular newsgroup know what they are talking about. Later, Tom |

If there's a tidal flow or heavy traffic or worse ship traffic you should be ready to move PDQ & if you're as manic as my people are then when you chase fish nothing else matters, gets even more scary when they're landing one:-) K So your sad Krause lie for the day is from the "bride" series. Just like the "father" lies this is sad because it shows how desperate he is to be noticed & seeing he knows he won't be by his own life as a union organiser, he tries for glory by made up family "associations". Needless to say it confirms how totally amoral the lying grub is & what low respect he has for his family. Apparently the wife is actually a social worker & certainly an honourable profession which most would be proud of but no; our non boating liar mate has to lie. Over time I'll give you the full "bride" series & you'll be astounded the BS he's made up, from phony life threads from the NG to "her" business owning a business jet:-) (the jet is actually owned by his union organisation & paid for by honest hard working unionists, the same unionists that have been made unemployed by the unions) Enough!!! so here's the lie; Did you spend a year as a line psychotherapist at a 650-bed state hospital for forensic patients? Did you spend a year as senior psychotherapist at a county facility for substance abusers? Did you spend two years as chief of therapy at a private, 200-bed facility for the mentally and emotionally ill, at which approximately half the patients were trying to beat drugs or alcohol? Are you currently chief of therapy for a for a multi-practitioner practice of some 825 patients, about a third of which are seeking help for substance abuse problems? |

I fish in San Diego Bay and just outside the Bay. I turn off the engine and
enjoy the peace and quiet. "Larry D Gibbs" wrote in message ... When fishing in an area/spot do you let your engine idle or do you turn it off until you are ready to move to another location. I fish Neah Bay a lot near rocks so leave my engine running in case I need
to scoot in a hurry! Southern Puget Sound has few dangers so do as you feel comfortable. Gordon "Larry D Gibbs" wrote in message ...
