Only isolated resistance...
Harry Krause wrote in message news:c3dhc2g=.d40e6e33f033bb3da197ea0e9592924c@108 2981172.nulluser.com... One of the Bush****ters in this newsgroup, Herring, I believe, claims the resistance in Iraq is isolated and of no serious consequence, and that he has actual letters from servicemen there who tell him everything is hunky-dory. It almost seems out of control. What a mess. Maybe the US should just engage in one last major all out effort to get rid of the most dangerous elements and then leave. Let the Iraqis rebuild their own country. Oh I forgot....what about the oil.....! |

One of the Bush****ters in this newsgroup, Herring, I believe, claims the resistance in Iraq is isolated It is isolated. Estimates put the number of insurgents in Fallujah at somewhere between 1000-3000...out of a population of more than 200,000. and of no serious consequence, Not true. Any time Americans are dying, it certainly is of serious consequence. and that he has actual letters from servicemen there who tell him everything is hunky-dory. It's not a "popular uprising", Harry. It's al Qaeda insurgents from other countries teaming up with ex-Baath party officials, and radical Shiites (who have the support of Iran). Bush plans to turn the country over to mostly Kurds, several Sunni's and a sole Shiite in June...which is precisely why the Baathists and Shiites are joining with al Qaeda to oppose our troops. |

Lets see, the news reports I am seeing state that there are Shi'ites and
Sunni leaders in the rebellion against the coalition forces. The U.S. already disqualified the Baathist party from being involved in the political makeup of the "New Iraq" That leaves the Kurdish as the only Iraqi people that aren't attacking our Men and Women. Let the Iraqis rebuild their own country. Oh I forgot....what about the oil.....! Perhaps what we should do is try to enlist the help of those semi-responsible Moslem states in the Gulf area, and try to get them to form a force that would provide security. Obviously, the Iraqis are deeply resentful of our presence in their country, and one can hardly blame those insurgents for being insurgents. After all, if the United States were invaded by the PRC, wouldn't there be American insurgents fighting them? Sure...but only the conservative American insurgents. The liberals would probably welcome a takeover by a Communist regime. Nevertheless, I doubt there'd be Canadian, French, Russian, German, and Mexican insurgents doing most of the fighting. |

Bremer says he'll be involving some Baath party members in the new government, just as we involved some Nazis after the end of WWII. There's no other way. |
