Default We actually did it!

We went to the coast this weekend and signed on the dotted line for a new
Grady White 282 Sailfish. Now we have to wait 2 weeks for the boat to be
rigged and the electronics installed. Argh, I feel like a little kid waiting
for Christmas! It was a tough choice - we also tried the Pursuit 28 footer
and it is one terrific boat. What really sold us was the GW seats and the
fishbox, both much better designed than on the Pursuit. And to my surprise
the GW was about $5000 cheaper!

Thanks to everyone who helped answer the many questions I have posted.

Congratulations. You bought a great boat. Are you planning to trailer it,
or will you be keeping it in a slip somewhere?

We'll be keeping it in dry storage at a marine.

I also suggest you wash that boat by hand each time you use it, to get
rid of the salt and to check the hull for damage. Let the marina
operator know you are doing it to examine the hull.

Good luck.

First Congrats!

I second Harry's comments about washing to remove salt, you should flush
the engine(s) each time it's hauled, or if the marina has a flush tank, use
it. It's amazing just how much wear, tear & corrosion damage a dry storage
marina can put on your beautiful new boat. A lot of that damage can be
started by drippage when a wet salty boat gets put above you, so try for a
top bunk, or a bunk with no upper neighbor.

Happy & safe boating!

Peter,

Be careful with any advice/information Krause gives you...it has been proven
he doesn't even own a boat. He gets his information off the internet, and
passes it off as his own. He has also been caught in many many lies.

Just a friendly heads up...good luck with your new boat!

Twin Yamaha 225s, 4 stroke of course. We hope to go down in a couple of
weeks, 3 at the most, to take possession.
