About 4000 passengers got quite a surprise after boarding a cruise ship
(Voyager of the Seas) for a Bermuda vacation. They got Shanghaied and ended up here because of a tropical storm. Some of the passengers were crying about freezing. What kind of wussies ya got stateside? I run around in shorts and t-shirts day after day. Maybe they'd rather be bouncing around at sea in a Hurricane. http://tinyurl.com/7bjn6 |

Did they get what they payed for and deserved??
Never heard about Norwegian cruise ships? Their seamen can handle both arctic and tropical challenges much better. UV index of 8+.... the low temperature is 81 degrees tonight.... and the water temperature is about 83 degrees... which I suspect is close to 15 degrees above your high air temperature for the day.... If you were accustomed to... and dressed for my weather..... and forced into your weather.... suppose you'd be comfortable? -- Gene, if you still work inside a machine shop or a manufacturing plants tool and die shop I sympathize with you during this time of high temperatures...as well as all the folks laboring outside. You are definitely earning your pay. We were sitting in an air conditioned conference room on Monday and someone complained about how hot it was in the room....a whole air conditioned 75 degrees. I calmly pointed to the window where there was a group of construction laborers and machine operators working in the 95 F temperatures and heat index over 100F. How bad we sometimes think we have it until we see what some folks have to endure (hot and cold temperatures) to put food on the table for their family. |

Maybe...but you could look at it as a refreshing change to escape the heat & humidity stateside. Our tourism industry started in the late 1800's whem wealthy Americans would move their families up here for the summer to escape same. |

It's 68 here at the moment (Rochester NY) and people are walking around in shorts. Who were these tourists? |
